Present: Jayaseelan learns about Selvam's involvement from Murugesan, who was also part of the gang but had a change of heart after seeing Jayaseelan's honesty. Jayaseelan confronts Selvam and asks him why he did such crimes. Selvam reveals that he was frustrated with the corruption and injustice in the society, and wanted to become rich and powerful like his grandfather. He also blames Jayaseelan for being a puppet of the system and not caring about their family. He says that he and Lal have planned one last kidnapping of a minister's son, and challenges Jayaseelan to stop them.
Jayaseelan manages to track down Selvam and Lal, who have kidnapped the minister's son and are hiding in a hospital. He fights with them and rescues the boy.
